Ah, time once again for me to update you on life. i think perhaps this time i'll change formats and do a couple different entries.
So, let's see, last weekend was a hoot! My darling girlfriend Amanda and her wonderful daughter Sage came down to my neck of the woods for a visit, but not to me this time ;). Amanda's folks were in town! So on thursday night, I got to hang out with the girls and then the next day, i went to work and they went out on a shopping extravaganza which included many hours of walking around Bellesquare and even a trip to build-a-bear to pick up Max, the newest addition to Sages "stuffy" collection. (stuffy is in quotes cuz it's totally a canadian word that i have never in my life heard before, but at the same time seems rather appropriate, that refers to stuffed animals) Friday evening after work I drove into bellevue and met up with Amanda, Sage, Brenda (amanda's mom) and Joe at the at the Rock Bottom brewery. Joe and Brenda had spent the day at a conference for their work and had a break before the evening session. We had some good food, good conversation and joe and I had some very decent beer. We made plans to do dinnner the next evening and then said goodnight. Amanda, sage and I went back to the mall to hang out for a bit before meeting up with Brenda, josh, kimmy kim and (for a short time anyway) Aaron, to see X-men 3.
X3 was rather dissappointing at first because they completely didn't follow any of the traditional story lines which i found obnocious more than anything else, being a huge fan of the original comics. In retrospect it was a decent story in itself and seemed pretty plausible given the set up of the other two movies, but the fact is, they made so many changes away from the original story line that it was distracting and annoying. The original was so good, they didn't have to do anything to it, but they felt like butchering it into something so far away from X-men that i feel that they really shouldn't have been allowed to use the name X-men in the title. (maybe "Xish-people" or something/ please refer to my sister's blog for more ranting on this topic). I could go into far more detail as to the inaccuracies but as i already had a good rant session with my sister this last weekend, I think it's pretty much out of my system.
We went home then and crashed as it was way freakin' late by the time the movie got out. Saturday was spent sleeping in mainly, goofing around the house, playing video games, buying groceries for the meal that evening and that's about all we got accomplished before the folks came over. We had a very nice little BBQ, i grilled up some steaks and chicken legs. Amanda made an AMAZING salsa out of fresh everything, completely from scratch!! (the woman is amazing!) Joe and I hung out by the grill and theologized and got to know each other, while Amanda and her mom sat inside and chatted it up. Then we all sat down to dinner and talked and laughed and had a generally good time. The folks took off late and Sage tagged along with them. Amanda and I had about an hour of down time to clean up and then the HS crew from FUEL showed up at my house and we all went out and sat by the fire untill the wee hours of the morning.
After coming inside, Amanda and I stayed up even later deep in discussion. Think we finally stopped talking around 5am. Gotta love those nights/days. So i got a couple hours of sleep and then went to a meeeting at church (which had it's own set of snaffus that i won't go into right now). Amanda and I then did finally get a couple hours of peace and relax time by ourselves, which was very nice, before she then had to jump in her brand spankin' new car and cruise back up to Canada.
... and that is one weekend and one entry.
